I don't know, the Sweeney thing feels very manufactured to me. I find it hard to believe anyone originally cared about the ad's rhetorical content, more likely conservatives (or marketers) kept pushing the idea that libs hated the ad until the dumbest/most online libs available decided it must be true and they wanted to incorporate that into their posting, at which point the other side finally had something to point to.
I took note while looking into the thing that a lot of the "liberals hate this!!!" articles preempted the "this is eugenics" articles, so I really wouldn't be surprised—basically how the entire internet operates now, like Sony manufacturing a sexist backlash to its own terrible gender-reversed Ghostbusters. People play into it all so easy.
The whole response has been for real crazy and paranoid. It’s weird that nobody who says the ad supports eugenics seems to understand how fucking insane they sound haha.
But also as a heads up, the Tweet from Jarvis Best: He’s a satire account. That post is satire.
Whether or not it is (I didn't know it was lol), I've seen it shared pretty widely with sincerity. I've seen a ton of people make the exact same claim with 100% earnestness.
Oh yeah no doubt. I just thought you’d make your point better by referencing a sincere post, and maybe save yourself the hassle of someone using it against you later. But still, I take your point. The line between satire and sincerity is thin in this case haha.
Interesting. Yeah, this is a real thing now, actually, as you indicate, it's been going on for quite a while. I'll admit, as a traditionalist and a conservative/nationalist, for the past fifty years advertising has made me angry sometimes. For instance, I won't buy any product that portrays straight white men as buffoons or fools or weak. And that's not a problem for me as there are always alternatives.
I think the bigger problem is our media moving to the smartphone. People, mostly younger people, ingest whatever pops up. Most of that has no context. And quite a lot of it is silly and stupid. Not to take your post off track, but the big problem is 24/7 access to garbage on the internet. I do try to limit my intake of that.
Ironic that there's a halal food cart parked in front of the billboard. This is a non-issue designed to distract people from more important (dire) news items.
“ He’s a Zionist who materially supports the IDF. Yes, some Jewish Zionists actually do bizarrely seem to like Hitler, but it is unlikely that Jay Schottenstein would let his company earnestly heil Hitler.” You rant like Goebbels! Gosh! What a putrid mouth!🤮

Best!
I dunno, some of those DSA folks are pretty cute 👀
