Meanwhile, back on the U.S.S. Titanic, Captain Trump is overseeing another offloading (over the side) of social programs. "Don't look too closely, just shove and let go. We're running out of time because the in-flooding hemorrhage of unpayable debt is going critical." (Captain Trump is not averse to mixing metaphors.) "That next aircraft carrier? We've already go-slowed it, and hypersonic R & D is essental, but we're already cutting to the bone. Put it off until after the final -- oops I mean the next -- congressional election. Who was it who said that democracy can't survive a program of bone-crushing austerity? And thanks to my new little friend in New York City for saying the quiet part out loud: Get used to it."
