Why though not bring up the obvious comparison, between the reporting on Korea and Ukraine? The situations are not directly analogous, but they are close.
The Washington-installed puppet in Korea was likely doing exactly as he was told. Kissinger’s stance in Chile, in his own words, was that Pinochet was doing what was necessary.
It was absurd to think Russia could be defeated by NATO, especially after many of its most active members deindustrialized to appease Green fanatics.
Isn’t that another interesting propaganda-fueled scam, which has nothing to do with protecting the environment?
What’s the connection between Al Gore promoting this climate emergency and his denouncing of the first amendment at the WEF, recently?
Is he part of a nefarious Nazi-style conspiracy to institute a world government via restrictions purportedly driven by climate change mitigation efforts?
Isn’t it odd that global warming had to morph into climate change, when overall warming trends could not be verified?
Why, for instance, are the press and governments still pushing 15 minute cities and dangerous batteries in everything from cars to power plants, when it’s recently been shown we are in a cooling trend?
You and I differ re: the veracity of climate change itself, but I do very much agree that there is An Agenda we may witness below the surface. Like COVID, which was nevertheless still "real" -- everything surrounding it in the west was clearly indicative of testing the limits of social control, and I find it pretty weird that so many self-described "dissidents" were so willing to trust their plainly evil governments when such a thing arose, very quickly becoming willing to obey every command presented to them without question. The barons of so-called "green energy" (much of which isn't as "green" as the name suggests) will prove to be just as vicious as the barons of oil which preceded them; not long ago, Elon Musk was a liberal environmentalist "hero" to people, and few have considered that he's really just a microcosm of the corporatists which rule the entire green energy sector. Greta Thunberg is a "hero" now and yet no one every questions how a teenager rose to such prominence, they like that she chewed out the crowd at Davos but don't ask who arranged for her to speak there, they admire her principles in sailing across the Atlantic instead of flying but don't ask who organized the trip. Ofc the truth is that her rise was orchestrated by a green capitalist NGO, something rarely commented on.
And yes, the parallels between Korea and Ukraine today are obvious. The liberal washing of a tyrannical regime, ignoring a decade of human rights violations and oligarchical control, the fact that Zelensky himself is the puppet of oligarchs, the Nazi-affiliations of a significant portion of the deputized militias, all to "liberate" a country where all the political parties representing the eastern half of the country have been declared illegal. The goal of "Europeanizing" Ukraine will turn Ukrainians into just another second-class race of serfs like the Poles, and that will be their reward, along with many incidents in which Ukrainian workers carted off to the west get brutalized by racists (again, like Poles). Prior to the CIA-backed Euromaidan protests the country was very much dominated by Russian influence, but the country is better off in Russia's orbit both geopolitically and because of the shared history/ethnicity/culture/languages rather than under the heel of western chauvinists who revile the Slavs and will use them as workhorses. Since 2014 the IMF loans which replaced Russia's loans came with a lot of austerity caveats, destroying the robust social welfare system that was in place. Now Ukraine just has DIFFERENT oligarchs, is under the control of a DIFFERENT bloc controlling their foreign policy, but now it has no social programs, half of its political parties are illegal, all the Neo-Nazis are heavily-armed, and the country has been ripped apart by war. I can't see how that would be an improvement.
I agree that this Ukraine war is merely a ruse utilized by western interests to confiscate Ukrainian assets.
Climate change, however, is a ruse. The most inherent quality of the climate on earth is its dynamic nature.
To assume that we have destroyed its homeostasis by injecting a bit more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, while largely ignoring every other factor, is simply myopic.
Fascinating read.
The New Yorker was always at my house growing up, but my parents were vert political. I only read the cartoons as a kid.
When I started delving into articles, I only really enjoyed the Talk of the Town and the occasional long form article.
Though, I could never understand how they selected their poems and short stories.
Now, I get it.
